Our history is rich, our roots are strong, and our future is bright!
When you've been serving members for over 60 years, you gain a lot of experience and expertise! Through the years, we've managed to stay true to our roots, through guidance from our board (with some members serving over 30 years!) and through our commitment to continue to manage our credit union locally. We don't have a head office in another province. We don't have to wait 3-5 business days to get in touch with or to get a response from our CEO. We don't let a computer make our decisions (i.e. whether a person should be accepted or rejected for a loan.)
Apex Credit Union actually started on February 26th, 1940 as the Calgary Provincial Civil Service Saving & Credit Union Ltd. Through the years, we've acquired assets from Baker Memorial Employees Saving & Credit Union (1965), Telephone Employees Credit Union (1994), and the University of Calgary Credit Union (2001). In March of 2000, Apex Credit Union became open bond, increasing the opportunities for all Albertan's to enjoy our banking services! This allows us to provide financial services to all Albertan's while continueing to serve the needs of our existing membership.
